31 Aug 2006 - Report for August
We always suspected that August would be a busy time for us. With the influx of visitors to the area, and the potential hazards of a rocky coastline, high traffic densities, and all the various ailments which this enhanced population can encounter, we were bracing ourselves for an increase in calls.
We weren't disappointed!
Our average for August was almost 1 call a day. Some patients were locals, and some tourists. On 2 or 3 days we had 2 calls, and only a few days had no calls.
We worked with our colleagues in HM Coastguard on a number of occasions, and are getting to be on first name terms with the winchmen on 'Whiskey Bravo', the Coastguard Helicopter.
It is most satisfying to be putting our training and resources to good use, and hope to continue to be useful to the local population and tourist visitors.
Question - What will September have in store for us?
The volunteers have done sterling work this month, providing a staggering 96% of cover for the month.
